MEETING OF THE TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS’ CLUB

APRIL 10, 2007 AT THE 4 H CENTER

Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chris Lafferty, President.

Chris introduced new members, Sherry Eagen and Les Lantaff to the group. She

also welcomed Bob Kleiman and Cleo Ulm.

Secretary’s Report: Sister Anthony read the minutes of the March 13, 2007 Meeting. The

minutes were accepted as read. Linda Allen called attention to an error in the

January 2007 minutes. Under the Show committee report regarding the Celebrity

Auction should read $187 went to Rehab Center and $292 went to the club.

Chris explained that the minutes were read aloud this time because they were

summarized with the Newsletter. In the future the Minutes will be sent with the

Newsletter but each will be separate.

Treasurer’s Report: Don Deutsch gave the treasurer’s report which was accepted as given.

Chris reminded the members that dues are due now. She also asked the members

to check the roster sheet at the table to be certain that their information is correct.

Library Report: Doug Lafferty informed the group that we now have a study stick of the ear

donated by Bob Kleiman. Bob also donated three handle carved canes which he

asked to go to a Nursing Home. They were given to Sister Anthony to take to

Seton Residence.

Show Committee: Steve Oliver gave the Show Committee report. A meeting of this committee

will be held at Seton Residence on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.. Steve

asked if any of the members were interested in joining the group. Three members:

Doug Lafferty, Bob Koressell and Kerry Austin volunteered.

Old Business:

Seminars: A Saturday Seminar will be held at Seton Residence on Saturday, April 28, 2007,

from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Cost is $25 (this also includes the rough out). Chris

asked the membership to be conscientious attending the seminars that they sign up

to attend as the presenter counts on the fee offered to them when they agree to

come. Steve Oliver suggested that maybe we would need to go back to pre-

paying of the fee prior to the seminar.

Meeting Seminars: Marvin Daniels will give the May 8th club meeting seminar. Volunteers are

needed for the June, July and August meetings. Please see Chris if interested.

New business: Chris told the group that we are using a new website server.

Miscellaneous: Neil Ward is retiring on April 19. Members have been asked to send him notes

of congratulations via the e-mail or card.

Steve Brown said that he is offering Thursday evenings from 5 to 10 p.m. for

carving at 219 East Broadway in Madisonville.

Four of our members attended the Wood Carvers Annual Class in Lebanon,

Tennessee. There were Steve Brown, Marvin Daniels, Elvin Reed and Tom

Brink. Next years’ dates for this event are March 16-21, 2008. The same teachers

as were there this year will again be there.

Sister Anthony read thank you cards for Memorial gifts from the Leslie Clayton

Family and the Hack Mason Family.

The half pot was won by Robert Schreiber.

Adjournment: There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. The next

meeting will be held at the 4 H Center on Tuesday, May 8, 2007.
