Words from the President:

First I have exciting news to share! Doug and I are proud grandparents of a grand-daughter born Nov. 30th. Her name is Kadie Erica. Mom, Dad and baby are all doing fine.

Please do not forget the Christmas Party next Tuesday Dec. 11th at Seton Hall.

Residence beginning at 6 p.m The cost is $5.00 per couple or $2.50 for

a single person. We will again serve chicken like we did last year.

members who are attending are asked to bring a covered dish or a

dessert.( No ice cream). We will be having entertainment as well. You

never know who might show up. J

Please let Sister Anthony know that you are going to attend if you have not done so already.

PLEASE also consider bringing a wrapped carving or a carving tool or book etc that you no longer wish to keep and would like to trade.. This will be our Christmas exchange. It is optional to participate.

MEETING OF THE TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS’ CLUB

NOVEMBER 13, 2007 –AT THE 4 H CENTER

Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chris Lafferty, President

Secretary’s Report: All members received the minutes of the October 9, 2007 meeting.

It was moved, seconded and passed that the minutes be accepted as sent.

Treasurer’s Report: Don Deutsch gave the treasurer’s report which was accepted as

presented.

Library Report: There was no report this evening. The Library was open. Chris asked

that the members consider purchasing some of the wood from the library.

Show Committee: Steve Oliver gave a report. To date we have 90 ornaments for our

tree and wreath. 155 are needed for the job. There are 25 items entered

in competition. Linda Allen requested that we really should have more

and asked the members to consider entering one.

Steve reported that club members will do demonstrations this year. These

are Steve Brown, Marvin Daniels and Steve Oliver. We will also do a

"carve around." Steve reported that there is a copy of the floor plan

in the program which will help people to find their carver. We can set up

at the Armory from 5 to 8.p.m. on Friday. The doors will be open at

7 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m.on Sunday. Complementary Coffee and

donuts will be available to members setting up at this time. Kerry

Austin will set up the banners on the expressway this week end. Dick

Bitters has lawn signs for those who need them.

The doors will be open to the general public at 8a.m.Saturday and 9a.m.

on Sunday. The food concession will be open at 10:30 a.m. both days.

Steve Oliver asked for volunteers to join him and Dick Bitter on Saturday,

November 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ben Franklin Store for carving and

publicizing the Club.

New Business: Chris asked if the membership wanted to continue to use the 4 H Center

for their meeting this coming year. The cost is $75. We use it from January

through November on the second Tuesday of the month. In December we

have our Christmas Party at Seton. The members agreed.

In JANUARY because the room that we use will be occupied we will have

OUR MEETING AT 7:30 P.M. AND ONLY HAVE THE MEETING

Chris also told the members that on February 13 the Central Library would

like some carvers there to demonstrate and talk about the club at 6:30 p.m.

The audience would be made up of adults and some teens. The purpose of

this is to draw people into Arts and Hobby.

Carving Seminars: Jon Nelson will do the next Seminar at Seton Residence on the

evenings of November 26 and 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $60 plus

the rough out. It was suggested that we advertise this on our web-site

for those who are not club members if we have spaces.

Volunteers are needed to do mini workshops prior to our meeting time.

This would begin in February.

Elections: Chris presented the roster of Officer positions. Nominations were made from

the floor The following members were voted into office beginning

Other Business: We had two visitors with us this evening-Jennifer Lafferty, the daughter

of Chris and Autumn Austin, the daughter of Kerry .

Half Pot: was won by Steve Eli.
