Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chris Lafferty, President

Secretary’s Report: All members present received the report. It was moved, seconded

and passed that the minutes be accepted as sent.

Treasurer’s Report: Don Deutsch gave the treasurer’s report which was accepted as

presented.

Library Report: No report given. The Library is open this evening

Show Committee: Steve Oliver gave the Show Committee Report. Steve urged the

members to sign up for the show this evening and to select the table(s)

that they want. A diagram of the tables is at the Officers’ table.

Members are encouraged to enter the competition part of the show.

Forms for this are available this evening. Also available are fliers

to pass out.

Some members will participate in a show at Wesselman Woods at

the Nature Center on Saturday, October 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. If

interested just come or contact Kerry Austin. We would hope to show

some of the things that the club does i,e, Christmas wreath with ,

ornaments and items that will be used in "Carving for Charity." There will

also be an opportunity for club members to show what our club does when

some of them will be carving at the Ben Franklin Store on November 17

from 12 noon until 4 p.m. If interested join Steve Oliver and Dick Bitter

on this day.

Steve Oliver has made arrangements for a block of twenty rooms at the

Homelife Suites, 100 South Greenriver Road for those coming from out of

the city and needing hospitality. They will hold this block until 2 weeks

before the Show and re-evaluate their use. The USI Volley Ball team

will do the concession stand. We are working with Smokey Mountain

Woodcarvers’ Supply as a vendor. The Show Committee meeting will be

meeting on November 5 at 6 p.m. at Seton Residence.

Old Business: Chris reported that she did not receive a volunteer for the Nominating

Committee therefore she is passing out a form at this meeting for people to

sign up for the office that might like to have. She then read the job

descriptions for the various jobs. We will also need a Show Committee

Chairman. We will have our elections at the November meeting. Chris

urged members to seek new members to the club. It is the duty of the

President to secure the meeting place. We are satisfied with what we do

now but we cannot continue this unless we have the funds to do so. We

depend on our dues and the money raised at the show to see us through.

New Business: On December 11 we will have our annual Christmas Party at Seton

Residence beginning at 6 p.m The cost is $5.00 per couple or $2.50 for

a single person. We will again serve chicken like we did last year.

members who are attending are asked to bring a covered dish or a

dessert.( No ice cream)

Chris told the membership that we are getting offers of basswood from

trees taken down in this area. Ken Avey is willing to store the wood;

however basswood from this area is hard to cut with a knife; a power tool

works better.

Adjournment: There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

Dick Bitter has signs for the Show. We will not have a featured carver

at our November 13 meeting. Again we will either paint or carve.

The half pot was won by Elvin Reed.

Respectfully submitted,

Sister Anthony, Secretary

Note from the President: PLEASE plan to attend the Nov, meeting as we will be finalizing our annual show to be held Nov. 24th and 25th. Please bring all money that you have from ticket sells. If you have not already picked up your tickets to sell please plan to do so at the meeting. We also need to hold elections for the upcoming new year.

Chris
