MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

2009 October 13, 2009 - 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 7:33 p.m. by Neil Ward, President.

Minutes of previous meeting:

The minutes were approved as circulated.

Treasurer's Report:

Don Deutsch gave the treasurer's report, which covered two meetings
The report was accepted as given.

Library Committee:

Kerry Austin gave the report. Kerry said that now that everything has a card, it should be easier to check out things and return them.

Show Committee:

Neil Ward gave the report. Ornaments are still needed for the tree and wreaths as well as for door prizes. Members are asked to bring what they have to the November meeting. We also need lights for the tree. Lights may be colored or white. Carvings for Charity are also needed.

We are still working on a place for our yearly banquet. Neil introduced all the members of the present Show committee. Lawn signs are ready for distribution. Please take as many as you need.

New Business:

According to our By-Laws Neil has appointed a Nominating Committee. It consists of Kerry Austin and Joel Slayton. They will bring a slate to the next meeting. New officers will take their places at the January meeting.

Seminars:

Steve Brown mentioned the Renegade Roundup, which will take place Oct. 26-30. He also told the members that he won the 2nd Best of Show at the Caricature Carvers' Competition.

Steve Eli will offer a one-day seminar on Saturday, October 24 at Seton Residence in painting techniques. The cost will be $10 which includes snacks and dinner. We will begin at 9 a.m.

At our November meeting, we will continue to work on ornaments.

Following our Show, we will be offering a seminar given by Debbe Edwards at Seton Residence the evenings of November 30, December 1 and 2. The subject agreed upon by those coming is a rabbit. Those who are attending should be at Seton by 6 p.m. on the first night where we will decide on future meeting times. Debbe would like us to get in 15 hours.

Half Pot:

The half pot was won by Kathy Vonderahe

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

The next meeting is Tuesday November 10.

Our Christmas Party will take place on December 8, 2009 at Seton Residence
