MEETING OF THE TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS’ CLUB

SEPTEMBER 11, 2007

Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chris Lafferty, President

Secretary’s Report: All members present received the report and the minutes were

accepted as sent:

Treasurers’ Report: Don Deutsch gave the treasurer’s report which was accepted

as presented.

Library Report: No report. The Library is open this evening.

Show Committee Report: Steve Oliver gave the Show Committee Report. Steve urged

the members to sign up for the Show and to pick out the tables(s) they

would like. There is a diagram of the floor plan at the Treasurer’s table.

Steve also urged the members to purchase their tickets. A book of ten

tickets costs $20.

Members who would like to enter carvings in competition should use the

competition entry forms. These are at the Officers table and must be

returned by November 15.

We do have a Christmas tree donated by Steve Eli for the show. Carved

ornaments for the tree should be turned into Linda Allen. Carvings for

"Carvings for Charity" should be turned into Kathy Vonderahe.

The concept of having a Silent Auction of items carved and donated by

members was brought up. The question then came up as to whether this

should be separate or a part of the Celebrity Silent Auction. This will

be discussed at the next Show Committee meeting which will be held

at 6:00 p.m. at Seton Residence on Monday, October 1.

In an effort to publicize our show and our Club several Craft Shows are

taking place around our area and members are being asked to participate.

These are: 4-H Center Craft Show the Week end of September 22. The

cost for a booth at this show is $70. Steve Oliver made a motion to

allow the club to do this as an advertising event. Motion passed.

Anyone interested in participating in this show should contact Steve

Oliver.

Another opportunity for the Club to display its works will be Nov. 17

at the Ben Franklin Store from noon to 4 p.m. Interested members

should contact Steve Oliver.

from his catalogue so that he will be certain to have these rough

outs when he comes. Please let Chris Lafferty know of your

choice so that she can inform Jon

Volunteers for Show: Members who are not members of the Show Committee are

expected to give volunteer time at the registration table and

"Carving for Charity" table. A slip has been passed around at

two meetings. Sister Anthony will review this and assign

members who have not signed up to these various duties.

The final schedule will be distributed at the next meeting.

If the reason that you have not signed up is because you have

a previous commitment please let Sister know.

Nominations for Officers: The election of Officers will be held at our November

meeting. If interested in a position or being a member of the

Nominating Committee please contact Chris Lafferty.
