MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

April 13, 2010 - 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by Neil Ward, President.

Before the meeting began Neil Ward asked the membership to observe a minute of silence in memory of Gene Steckler, Club member who died just recently.

Minutes of previous meeting:

This report was received on line or mail by the members. There was a question under the new Family Plan inaugurated by the membership at its meeting of January 12, 2010. The minutes stated, only the member paying dues is entitled to vote. This had not been discussed .It was necessary to have a discussion to be a part of the minutes and the to be revised bylaws. It was moved by Joel Slayton and seconded by Bill Grub that the Family membership Plan has one vote. Motion was carried. With the above exception the minutes were accepted as sent.

Treasurer's Report:

Helen Alvey gave the Treasurer's report which was accepted as presented.

Library Committee:

Kerry Austin said that there was no report to be given but he did ask the members for suggestions on how he could improve the Library.

Show Committee:

The judge that we thought we had, Robert Biermann from St. Louis will not be able to do our show judging. The name of Carol Jean Boyd as a judge was presented. She told Kerry that she would also do the seminar which usually follows the Show. Kerry will look into it and report at our next meeting. There will not be a show Committee meeting in April.

Old Business:

Neil Ward said that the incident with the Family Membership plan brought to his attention that it is time for us to review our By-Laws, He appointed a committee headed by Bob Koressel. The members are Steve Oliver, Kathy Vonderahe, and Sister Anthony.

New Business:

Neil said we need to begin to have our Featured Carver on the internet again. He asked for volunteers. Steve Oliver said that he would get some pictures at the Wednesday Power Carving night. Kerry Austin said that on May 15 there will be an Audubon Celebration. Let him know if you want to come and carve Neil said that we can secure from J.D. Hart from Turtle Lake, WI air dried wood. See him if interested

Seminars at Seton

There will be a Basic Carving Seminar given by Marvin Daniels at Seton on March 17-18. The cost is $55 plus the cost of the roughout. It will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be another seminar at Seton on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Woodburning by Peg Cawthorn. Cost is $60 which includes the wood. Peg will have wood burners for sale with her.

Steve Brown will give a Seminar at Seton on December 11-12, 2010, Cost is $60 plus the cost of the roughout. Steve will carve Santas.
