MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS CLUB

February 8, 2011 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Steve Oliver, President.

Minutes of previous meeting:

There were no minutes because we have not had a meeting since November due to our Christmas party in December and bad weather cancellation of the January meeting.

Treasurer's Report:

Helen Alvey gave the Treasurer’s report. We still need to have a report on our November Show.

Library Committee:

Show Committee:

Joel Slaton and Kerri Austin have again agreed to head this committee. Other members will be the same as last year plus anyone else who would care to work on this committee.

Old Business:

The first thing that we discussed was our Show. Observations were made by the membership as: We need more table covers. There were more visitors this year with more interest.

New Business:

Steve is looking for members who can give the hour and a half Seminar before our regular meetings. Next month Kerri Austin will do a Study Stick on Faces.

Money Gift: A gift of $250 was made by Tony Fieldhaus in memory of his aunt, Sister Josita. Suggestions were made as how best to use this gift. It was suggested that we contribute a certain amount, i.e. $100 to the next seminar which would bring the cost down for all those attending . A motion was made, seconded and passed that we use this gift to cut the cost for a seminar. When we do this we will lower the cost on the next 3 seminars.

Seminars:

Helen Gibson will do a weekend seminar June 10, 11 & 12 at Seton Residence. It will begin Friday evening.

We would like to do a one day seminar in April, if possible. Some carvers suggested were Steve Brown, Larry Green, and Marvin Daniels. Sister Anthony will check into an available date in April.

Introduction of Members:

Steve then began to introduce all of the members of the club who were present this evening and asked each to tell a little something about themselves. The membership seemed to enjoy this, but we almost forgot the Show and Tell. Steve also invited whoever wants to come to carve at his place two weeks after our regular meeting.

Contest:

Between this meeting and the next meeting members are to carve a new badge for themselves. Winner will receive $25.

Half Pot:

The half pot was won by Dick Burton.

Adjournment:

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

The next meeting is March 8, 2011.

Respectfully submitted:

Sister Anthony, Secretary
