Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m. by Neil Ward, President. Neil introduced Steve Eli's niece, Michelle. He also introduced Jim Murray, a new member.
Minutes of previous meeting:
Sister Anthony asked if there were any changes or additions to the minutes that were sent or e-mailed. The minutes were approved as sent.
Treasurer's Report:
Helen Alvey gave the report which was accepted as given.
Library Committee:
Kerry Austin explained the use of the library to new members. There was no report.
Show Committee:
The Show committee will meet at Seton Residence on July 17. There is no current report.
Old Business:
Steve Oliver will give a seminar on relief carving of a wooden plate at Seton Residence on August 14 and 15. $45 is the cost of the seminar and the plates will cost between $10 and $15 depending on the design chosen by the carver.
A proposed new brochure to interest folks in the club was designed by Steve and Palanita Eli. It will be printed by Ken Alvey. Ken passed a copy around to have the members look at. Ken will go ahead with printing it.
New Business:
Neil asked the membership for prayers for Linda Allen who has been confronted with family problems.
Seminars:
At our August meeting we will have open carving (Update: Rodney Paul will lead a seminar on Scroll Sawing at the August meeting). At our September Meeting Larry Green will do a seminar from 6:30-7:30 on pumpkins. The October Meeting is open at this time.On December 11 and 12 from 9 to 5 p.m. Steve Brown will do a seminar at Seton Residence. The cost for the seminar is $60 plus the cost of the rough out.
Steve Brown brought some carvings that he had from Tony Kirtz, one of our members who died recently. Some need painting and some need more carving. Some went to to Carvings for Charity at the Show.
Tickets for the Show will be available at our September Meeting. There will be seven (7) tickets in a book which will cost $21. We will have a drawing pot where each person who sells $21 can put their name-each time they sell $21. Winners will be drawn from the names and prizes awarded.
Ben Pike showed the members an interesting walking stick that he carved.
Half Pot:
The half pot was won by Steve Oliver
