MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

June 8, 2010 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Neil Ward, President. Neil thanked Kerry Austin for the seminar this evening on bark carving.

Minutes of previous meeting:

Sister Anthony asked the membership if they all received copies of the minutes of the previous meeting. A motion was made and seconded that the minutes be accepted as circulated.

Treasurer's Report:

Helen Alvey gave the treasurers' report. A motion was made by Linda Allen and seconded by Kathy Vonderahe that the treasurer's report be accepted as given.

Library Committee:

No Report

Show Committee:

There was no report from this committee other than to remind the membership that there was a Show Committee meeting scheduled for Saturday, June 19 at 9:30 a.m. at Seton Residence. Anyone interested is invited to come.

Old Business:

Sister Anthony asked what criteria should be used in selecting persons for the emeritus status. This subject has been turned over to the By-laws committee but Sister thought it only fair to the committee that it have the benefit of how the members felt. In general it was thought that age should not be a factor and that the time for this status would vary with individual members. Sister Anthony will pass this information on to Bob Koressel.

New Business:

Neil reported that he has again been contacted by J.D. Hart to sell air dried wood. He claims to be traveling near here and would like to show his wood to the group. Neil will contact Mr. Hart and find out when he will be coming through Evansville so arrangements can be made for him to display his wood.

Membership Needs: Neil said that we have had a drop in membership. We need to build it up to maintain the club. A membership committee was suggested. A motion was made and accepted to begin a Membership Committee and Neil appointed Mary Purtzer to head this committee. Anyone who is interested in joining the committee should contact Mary at 473-4020 and leave a message if Mary is not available.

Respectfully submitted:
