Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 8:25 p.m. by Neil Ward, President.
Minutes of previous meeting:
The secretary's report was accepted as distributed.
Treasurer's Report:
Helen Alvey gave the Treasurer's report which was accepted as given.
Library Committee:
Kerry Austin informed the club members the Library has plenty of wood that can be purchased. Also please return any books that have been out for awhile.
Show Committee:
The show committee will have its next meeting on Saturday, September 25th at 9:30 AM at Seton Residence.
All members are asked to sell one book of tickets. (7 tickets) Each member is entitled to one table at the carving show for each book of tickets sold.
Kerry passed out competition forms, table reservations forms ($21 for members), Banquet Reservation forms and a sponsor request letter.
Tickets were available to be picked up this evening. All purchasing tickets were eligible for a drawing of a "tool." The winner was club member Brett Abel. Congratulations!
A request went out for ornaments and Carvings for Charity.
Kerry stated that the Cypress Knee seminar following the carving show by Carol Jean Boyd will probably be cancelled due to the lack of interest.
Old Business:
The new club brochure designed by Steve and Palanita Eli and printed by Ken Alvey was distributed tonight. Thanks to everyone for their input with this new brochure.
New Business:
Club members were asked to come and carve at the 150th City of Spurgeon Anniversary, Saturday from 12-6. September 23-25 -The Pike County Arts Festival at Petersburg has invited us to participate. Congratulations to Dan and Julie Aldredge. They have a display at Central Library through the first of the year.
Seminars:
Steve Brown's seminar is scheduled for December 11 and 12 at Seton Residence and will feature a Christmas carving.
Show and Tell:
There were lots of interesting carvings by club members for show and tell.
Half Pot:
The half pot was won by Mary Prutzer.
Adjournment:
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
