MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS CLUB

Februry 9, 2016 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. by Jeff Hancock, President.

Approval of minutes:

Motion: To approve the minutes for Janurary 12, 2016, meeting as posted on the Club's web site. Motion carried

Treasurer's Report:

Don Deutsch gave the treasurer's report: Motion: To accept as presented. Motion carried.

Library Report:

Kathy Vonderahe reported that the Library is open and there are new books on carving available. She stated that they are ready to be checked out for 90 days at no cost, then $.25 per month thereafter.

Show Committee:

Sheri Meier has scheduled a Show Committee meeting for Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. EST, in a conference room at Seton. Kathy Vonderahe reminded the members that the show needs Christmas Ornaments for door prizes. Members are asked to carve two ornaments each for the show.

Old Business:

The President explained the lease agreement with the 4-H Center: we will need to meet in the large room in the front part of the building for 3 months.

Professional Seminars: The following were some carving teachers that we would be interested in talking classes from. Bob Biermann, Steve Brown, Peg Cawthorn: woodburning, Helen Gibson, Larry Green, Marvin Daniels.

The President stated he still needs volunteers to lead Mini-Seminars after the club's business meeting. The Club pays $25.00 per mini-seminar for the instructor at each meeting.

New Business:

None

Seminars:

March 8 Mini-Seminar: Richard Hitch will give a demonstration on using a band saw to cutout blanks for carvings.

May 10 Mini-Seminar: Jack Winkleman will teach us to carve a Humming Bird.

Half Pot:

The half pot was won by Jeff Hancock, he donated it to St. Josita Fund.

Adjournment:

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.

The next meeting is Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

Our meeting was followed by a seminar led by Kathy Vonderahe, several members joined her in carving a Snowman Ornament.
