MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

March 12, 2019 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Sherry Schaefer, 6:00P.M..

Minutes of previous meeting:

FEBRUARY MINUTES Motion to approve the minutes of the February 12th meeting was made by Ben Meyer and Seconded by Robin Meyer. Motion carried, minutes approved.

Treasurer's Report:

Alan Bailey gave the Treasurer's Report. Motion to approve was made by Kathy Vonderahe and seconded by Ben Meyer. Motion carried, report approved.

Alan Bailey reported that at this time just four members from 2018 had not paid their 2019 dues.

Library Committee:

Library Report- Ben had the library cabinet opened and ready if any member wanted to check out reference materials.

Teaching Report:

Richard Hitch stated that since there are no new beginning carvers at this time he would no longer like to teach the beginning classes. Richard did return the tools that had been on loan and offered to pay $33.00 that it would take to replace any other unreturned tools. Steve Eli made the motion to not hold Richard responsible for this amount. Motion was seconded and carried.

Show Committee:

Present members are Kathy Vonderahe, Sherry Schaefer, Warren Schaefer, Jon Gunnels and Richard Hitch. Show committee's first meeting will be prior to the April meeting.

NOTICE !!!! After the meeting Warren checked with the Church official that had our show booked for October 19, 2019. It appears that will be our show date! Wood and Tool vendors will be contacted as to their availability.

Old Business:

Wayne Laramore Seminar dates will be June 21, 22 and 23 at Ken Alvey's Carving Studio. Sign up sheet was made available for those club members interested.

There will not be a Rich Wetherbee Seminar scheduled at this time.

Sherry is needing instructors for the club meeting mini-seminars. At this time Jack will be doing a Sharpening seminar in April, Ron a boot carving seminar in June (?). Anyone interested in teaching Or with seminar suggestions please let Sherry or any of the officers know your interest.

New Business:

Alan had a call from a gentleman seeking assistance on designing grips for a Colt M 1911-A-145 pistol. Anyone that can help him his name is E. Russell Jones.

We have received word through present club members that some of our former members that are no longer able to attend our meetings for whatever reasons would still like to hear from any of our current members just to keep in touch.

CARVING NOTES: This October will be the last year for the Dayton Woodcarver's Show. Dates will be October 12 and 13 in Wilmington, Ohio.

Fall 2019 Renegade Wood Carvers Round Up will be October 21-25 in Lebanon, Tennessee. Steve Brown is the contact person, phone 270-871-4239.
