MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

May 10, 2022 4 H Center

Call to Order:

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by President Jack Winkleman. We welcomed new guest and member Janie Hall.

Minutes of previous meeting:

Motion to approve the minutes of April meeting was made by Jeff Hancock and seconded by Ben Meyer. Motion carried. Minutes approved.

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer Jon Gunnels gave his report for April. Motion was made by Jeff Hancock and seconded by Mark Weil. Motion carried. Treasurer's report approved.

Library Committee:

Library is open. President Jack Winkleman explained that we have books to check out; besides study cast's, gobys, and other items. Giveaway ornaments for the show door prize drawing.

Show Committee:

The show dates are October 22 and 23, 2022.

We received a thank you from the 4H Center for our carving donations that were included in their auction event.

Jack is planning on making a trip to Michigan to pick up Basswood for the club to sell at this year's Show from Moore Roughouts. Vice President Mark Meyer will lead June's meeting. Jack we hope that you have a safe trip.

We think Dick Belcher will be at this year's Show as a tool vendor.

Old Business:

A representative group from the club led a group of 15 children in carving a turtle in soap on May 2. Roy Kline led the class and Kathy, Jan, Jeff, Jack and Mark assisted. A major thank you for all who participated in this event.

A reminder there are new Christmas Ornament cutouts available to carve for the 2022 Show door prizes. Please take some.

New Business:

This year's web hosting cost was $140 compared to $308 last year. Bill is paid.

We have received an invitation to paticipate in this year's Master Gardner's Art in the Garden event. Do we have any interest? The event is on June 12, 2022, from 11:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

A suggestion has been made that we form a working group to focus on a plan to work with youth in carving going forward. Discussion?

Seminars:

Upcoming mini seminars inclde- Tonight- Marvin, carving eyes; June- Frank, pine cone or happy tree; July- Open; August- Jeff, Jeff's Folly

Show and Tell:

Frank Wildeman showed his carved pumpkins and tree ornament.

Marvin Daniel showed his carved cowboy with gun.

Kathy Vonderahe showed her carved pengiun and snowman.

Roy Kline showed his carved international gnomes.

Robin Meyer showed her wood burning ornaments and chipmunk plaque.

Half Pot:

Half pot was won by Jon Gunnels; who gave it back to the club.

Adjournment:

Mark Meyer made a motion to adjourn and was seconded by Jeff Hancock. Motion carried.

The next meeting is Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
