MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

May 14, 2019 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:07 p.m. by President Sherry Schaefer.

Visitor this evening was Steve Wynn. Steve became interested in the club after seeing a local morning t.v. show that featured carvers Marvin Daniels and Richard Hitch.

Minutes of previous meeting:

Motion to accept the minutes of the April meeting was made by Gene Sutton and seconded by Ben Meyer. Motion carried, minutes approved.

Treasurer's Report:

Due to the absence of Treasurer Alan Bailey there was no Treasurer's Report presented this evening.

Library Committee:

Show Committee:

Old Business:

*Sherry has tried to reach a possible wood vendor for our show with no response at this time.

*As of this evening there are eight people signed up for the Wayne Laramore seminar in June.

*Some communication issues trying to discover more information about the club's participation in The Master Gardener's Show.

*Salem United Methodist Church has confirmed the club's show reservation for October 19th along with the annual club Christmas party in place of the December club meeting.

New Business:

This evening's mini seminar will be led by Ron Tucker, carving a cowboy boot. Depending on his schedule Marvin Daniels may present the June seminar. If Marvin is unavailable it will be an open carving night. Instructor positions are open from June until November for the mini-seminars. Asking members to step up to keep this activity going!

*Discussion, but no motions on thoughts and ideas to grow our club membership, etc.

Show and Tell:

Carvers with new projects to show included: Bob Kleiman- clown clock Joel Slaton- grouping of three carved birds Kathy Vonderahe- a few works in progress including a Santa and some ornaments Richard Hitch- a pair of Polar Bears Marvin Daniels- Wood spirit faces on Cottonwood Bark

Half Pot:

Pot was $26.00, $13.00 was won by Ben Meyer! Bob Kleiman provided books won by Jack Winkelman, Sherry Schaefer, Robin Meyer and Gene Sutton.

Motion to adjourn made by Robin and seconded by Larry Adams, motion carried, adjournment at 6:59 P.M.

TRI-STATE CARVING CLUB MEMBERS ARE SHARING THEIR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS FOR ELLIOT BAILEY, SON OF OUR TREASURER ALAN BAILEY AND HIS WIFE ANGELA. ELLIOT WAS INJURED IN A WORK RELATED ACCIDENT IN APRIL.
