MINUTES OF TRI-STATE WOODCARVERS' CLUB

September 13, 2016 4 H Center

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. by Jeff Hancock, President.

Minutes of previous meeting:

Motion: To approve the minutes for August 9, 2016, meeting as posted on the Club's web site. Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report:

Don Deutsch gave the treasurer's report: Motion: To accept as presented. Motion carried.

Library Committee:

Library is Open. Kathy talked about videos available in the Library.

Show Committee:

Sheri stated that Dennis has Show Tickets. Please see him after the meeting. Ads for the Show Program need to be turned in now. The President stated that printed forms are on the table in front of the Library to reserve a tables for the show and to register carvings for the woodcarving competition. Kathy spoke on the need for items for "Carvings for Charity" and that each club member should carve two Christmas Tree ornaments for the show. Ken Alvey has the updates for the yard signs.

Old Business:

Pat Moore's seminar on October 24, 25 and 26, 2016, is now full and has a waiting list.

Thursday Night Carving at Am-Vets will meet September 15. President asked if there was if there was enough interest to continue? He asked for a show of hands. There being none, we will not be carving at Am-Vets on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

President asked for a report on Steve Brown's Seminar: It was a Great Seminar!

Art in the wild, Wesselman Woods Nature Center. Saturday, November 12, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Jeff and Neil will attend.

New Business:

President met with Capt. Nunn at the National Guard Armory to reserve dates for the 2017 Show. We are penciled in for October 21 and 22, setup on Friday, October 20th.

President encouraged members to sign-up for Show Carving Competition, Tables, and the Banquet.

President discussed the Round Table for the November meeting and Elections.

Seminars:

September 13, Relief Carving with Richard Hitch.

October 11, Sharpening how to with Gene Sutton and Jeff Hancock.

November 8, Round-table

December 13, Christmas Party

Half Pot:

The half pot was won by Jack Winkleman.

Adjournment:

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.

The next meeting is Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Election Day!

Our meeting was followed by a seminar led by Richard Hitch. He provided kits and power tools to make a bracing table for relief carving. Also called a bench hook.
